The Summit is pleased to welcome Doug West and The Doug West Basketball Academy which will offer premier basketball training and leagues. Doug West attended Villanova University from 1985-89 and claimed the fourth spot on the Villanova school’s all-time scoring list. The Minnesota Timberwolves selected West in the second round of the NBA Draft in 1989, where he played for nine seasons. Following his professional career, West served as assistant coach at Canon-McMillan High School in Canonsburg, Pa, athletics director and strength and conditioning coordinator Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy in Wheeling, WV and coached at Rio Grande Valley and Villanova.
The backbone of the Program is the five (5) seasonal leagues: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer and March Madness. In addition to the leagues, Doug West conducts lessons and clinics that are sure to improve your game.
You will experience the training programs that have helped many athletes improve their all-around basketball skills. The program’s training protocols are designed to improve shooting, ball handling, passing, defense and footwork, as well as confidence and understanding of the game that will take you to the next level.
For the comfort of players and spectators alike, The Summit's sports complex is fully climate controlled. The facility is equipped with breakaway rims, with glass backboards that can be raised to regulation heights or lowered to 8 feet for elementary school play.
